Hot Wheels Car Carrying Case

I found a pattern online for a this cute car case.
I  used jean, felt and other fabric to make the body of it.  Ribbon to tie it.

If you want to make one, you can find it here.

I think it turned out really cute!  I made one for the little mini dolls my daughter has.  I'll post that one soon.

I hope you all had a great Christmas!  What did you do?

Raisin Rice Krispie Bars

These stay super moist for at least a week.  The raisins do the trick! And they're healthier than the regular ones.  So good!

Ingredients:
3 Tbsp. Butter
10 oz large marshmallows
6 Cups Rice Krispies
1/2 Cup Raisins

Directions:
In a pan, melt butter and marshmallows.  Remove from heat and add cereal and raisins.  Press into a pan.  When cool, cut into squares.

Baked Cheesy Mashed Potatoes

I've been on a potato kick lately.  I wanted hot mashed potatoes for when we were ready to eat, whenever that was.  So I came up with these.  Cheese please.

Ingredients:
6 Potatoes, peeled, boiled and drained
4 Tbsp Butter
1/2 Cup Whole Milk
1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese (plus a little extra for the top)
1/2 Cup Cheddar Cheese
1 Tsp. Garlic seasoning
1 Tsp. Salt and Pepper
1 Green onion sliced and diced

Directions:
Mash potatoes and add 3 Tbsp butter, and all other ingredients, mix up well.  Put into an 8 x 8 greased pan.  Add the last tbsp of butter and a sprinkle a little more cheese.  I did some mozzarella.  Cover with foil and bake at 375 F for 15 minutes.

I hope you like 'em!  Obviously you can add more cheese as you like.

Monster Pillow

My nephew is turning 1 soon and I wanted to make him something cute.  I came across this monster pillow that can be used later for the tooth fairy.  I like that you can use so many different colors for these pillows.

You can find the tutorial here.

Lion Applique Blanket

My sister- in -law made this lion with her cricket.  Really cool machines.
I finally decided to stop waiting and just put it on a blanket.  It'll hang around longer than a shirt.  Iron, iron, sew, sew and We's done.  She immediately ran off with it and this was the only pic i could get.
Thanks Aunt Rene!

Reclaimed Doug Fir End table

I've been sick for over two weeks now, which hopefully explains my lack of recipes posted of recent.  My husband made me an end table during my first week.  It is exactly what I wanted.

I had seen pictures of people bringing in tree stumps, bark and all.  Not my taste.

He cut it and hand planed it.  Some oil and wax later, and she's done.  It's perfect.

 Ideas for dinner tonight?

1 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 Cups butternut squash, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes

Chevron Pillow Covers Tutorial

I Really like the chevron pattern.  I've been trying to find something to make with it.

I downloaded my pattern from google and traced it onto freezer paper.  I cut it out with an Exacto knife, and ironed it onto my material.

I used gray acrylic paint on my fabric, and applied it with a foam brush.  I let it dry and then carefully peeled it off so I could do the other pillow.

I placed a cloth over top the fabric and ironed it for a few seconds to make sure the paint stays when I wash it.  I sewed them up and viola!

I really like how these turned out, and they really add to my living room.

Here is one of my other painted pillows
I saw it on The Nest and thought I'd make my own.  What design would you copy?

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies I've Ever Made

I've made many cookies in my time, though I don't consider myself a baker.  My passion is cooking.  But these cookies were amazing.  I couldn't believe they came out.  You can get the recipe here.  I just made a half batch.  In this recipe you add water to the baking soda, and then add it to your mixture.

What are your plans for the holidays?  Are you making food or desserts?

Her First Pillow

This is a long time coming...
I embroidered her name at the beginning of the year and had all the squares pinned and ready to sew.
Finally, this past week I sewed it together and layered 6 pieces of batting on the inside.  I didn't want it to be too thick and high.

She LOVES it.  She uses it in her crib and also uses it as a seat for cartoons.
She took it from me right away, and went on her way.

Burlap Tea Light Decor

 I saved my pineapple can
And wrapped burlap and hot glue together, around the can.  I added a strip of lace and a piece of twine for a bow.  Makes a cute tea light holder!
I also have been holding onto this Coke bottle.  I tried a similar thing.  I think it needs a flower or a piece of wheat coming out the top?  What do you think?

Cheap easy decor. Nice.

My Hand Forged Knife

My husband made me an appetizer knife!  He forged it out of a steel a rod I believe.  Very Cool! I figure something for my cheese ball since the holidays are coming, or a butter knife.

He just started into blacksmithing and he's already made several pieces.  He's very good at whatever he puts his hands to.  He always amazes me.  Now if I could just learn his secret!

I love it!

What would you have made?

BBQ Chicken Drumsticks

 Happy Early Halloween Everyone!
I hope you all are well.  Times are busy and I think we all can use a break.  This easy recipe can give you an extra few minutes to sit down and relax.

Ingredients:
Chicken Drumsticks
Open Pit BBQ Sauce
Devils Spit BBQ Sauce

Directions:
Mix equal parts of the BBQ sauces together and cover chicken. Bake in oven at 400 F degrees for 35-40 minutes or until done and the chicken is starting to pull away from the bone.  Serve with baked potato wedges or pasta, as I did in my case.  The little one prefers pasta at the moment.
We already got to go Trick or Treating downtown yesterday, and she had a blast.
